Below are a breakdown of the resources and activities being set for students in year 11 across our academies

Fieldwork Unseen

Students to complete a series of activities on the worksheet below that includes:

  • Give them a series of pictures and come up with a question.

  • For one, what is the risk? Pick out 2 risks and how you would mitigate them.

  • Fieldwork equipment match up. List the names underneath and then they have to match these up.

  • Methods - rivers. What method would you use to e.g. measure the speed of the river. Positives and negatives of each of the methods. Give pupils an example first.

  • Identify names of graphs

  • Results - what do they show

  • Questions from unseen fieldwork

Human Fieldwork

Students to complete a series of activities on the worksheet below that includes:

  • State your human fieldwork title

  • Why is this a good question and topic to study?

  • What were the risks and how do you mitigate them. Complete a table.

  • What sampling technique would you use? Give one advantage and one disadvantage?

  • Search and destroy - justify one primary data collection method used in your human enquiry (lesson 3 ppt)

  • Data presentation - describe one method used to present your data? How could it be improved?

  • Summarise findings - bullet point or outline of houses and get pupils to fill these in

  • Evaluation - show example of the table (method, con and eval) and pupils complete this. Like a flow diagram

Students to complete a series of activities on the worksheet below that includes:

  • State your physical fieldwork title

  • State your location and why was this good?

  • Risks - rank the risks listed and justify them

  • To what extent was the data collection useful in meeting your aim? Model answer in ppt already so use this for perhaps search and destroy

  • Fill in the missing words task (on ppt) about results

  • Evaluation of the physical methods - advantages and disadvantages. They are listed at the bottom and they have to copy and paste them into the correct box.

  • Give students 3 disadvantages and write an evidence, comment, stretch on how to improve it.

  • For one of your enquiries, assess the extent to which your reliability of the data collection could be improved. (9 marks + 3 SPaG)
